Business License Information
Great news for business!
The Haralson County Board of Commissioners has waived the first year county business license fee for new businesses established between February 2 thru December 31, 2010.

Business License (also called an Occupational Tax)
If you plan to operate a business in the state of Georgia, you must obtain a city or county business license. You should discuss the details of your situation with the licensing department in your jurisdiction. The fee for a license is often contingent on the location, type and size of your business. For Haralson County, the licensing areas are listed below.
If your business will be located:
- Outside any city limits, but within Haralson County
The filing fee for a county business license is a flat $150.00 fee renewable annually. The fee is not based on any business criteria. For more information, call 770-646-2002. - Within the city limits of Buchanan
The filing fee for a Buchanan business license begins at $55.50 with the total fee based on the number of employees your business will have. For more information, call 770-646-3081. - Within the city limits of Bremen
The city of Bremen determines the first year business license by the type of business. The minimum for the first year will be $125-$325. After the first year, the rate will be based on the prior year's gross receipts.
In additional to a business license, Bremen requires:- -Federal Identification Number (New business may use a Social Security Number for the first year license.)
- -State Tax Number or a Georgia Sales Tax Number
- - State License Number for Alarm Systems, Car Dealerships, Electricians, Plumbers and Contractors.
- -Health Permits for Restaurants
- -Proof of Insurance for Wreckers and Cab companies.
- -The City of Bremen Codes Department must approve each new applicant. An inspection is required on all facilities prior to business opening.
- Within the city limits of Tallapoosa
The total license fee is based on the number of employees:- -For 2 or less employees--$0.00 per employee + $125.00 application fee
- -For 3 or more employees--$10.00 per employee + $125.00 application fee
- -No license fee shall exceed $1200.00
